U13 Azul Boys Return to Field After 2 Weeks Off
On October 19, the U13 Azul Boys team returned in strong form after the CSA “Weekend of Rest” and another game that was rescheduled. Azul was matched against Pride Red in a contest that has proven close in their two previous meetings. While it was very exciting, a win wasn’t in the cards for Rush as the best they could do was a tie, 0-0. The tie brings the Azul cross town record to 2-0-1 for the season.
Rush dominated the field early but just could not get the ball in the net. The standard excuses of “The sun was in my eye” or “I tripped when my shoelaces came untied” were not heard. This time it was, “The goalie got in the way” or “I wish I had gone to finishing practice last Friday.”
Coach John LeCato, first year coach for Rush said, “Well, we played hard. Well, the boys played hard. I coached from the sidelines because it’s not legal for me to play on the field. Overall, I am happy with their performance.”
And while the game was very much an offensive game from the Rush perspective, the defense had their work cut out for them at times. They stood strong and prevented the Red from scoring.Azul heads to Salida on Saturday for their next game against a strong Chaffee County United team. Good luck boys!
