Florida State Women's Soccer Team loses in National Final.
Three Rush players Melissa Samokyshin, Sara Wagenfuhr and Ericka Sutton are all FSU players and were so close to their first college national championship. All three players have been accustomed to success on the national stage while playing with the Rush. Melissa was a part of a team that won a national championship at U16 and she came close again at U19, finishing third in the country. Both Sara and Ericka won a national championship just two years ago at U19 with the Rush. Congratulations to these three players and to Florida State on an excellent season. Note: The now national champions, University of Southern California Women's Program who beat FSU 2-0 on Sunday, will be the program of choice for current U18 Rush player, Brittany Kerridge who has been recruited and verbally committed to the storied college institution.
Rush Player Steven Traeger to participate in Men's Final Four.
Steven is a senior at Ohio State University. OSU has compiled a 16-3-5 record this year, but more importantly has headed into the national tournament playing very well and has now put together a string of victories, including a thrilling 4-3 win over defending national champion UC Santa Barbara, and is headed to the NCAA Division I Final Four. Good luck to Steven and his Ohio State Team!
Two Rush players make it to Elite 8 in NCAA Men's Tourament.
Sophomore Grant Campbell led his upstart Bradley University team to a State Farm MVC Tournament championship for the first time in school history with an exciting win over Creighton. An incredible run saw Bradley continue from there into the national tournament and make it all the way to the Elite 8 before losing to Ohio State University. There adventure included a shootout victory over soccer powerhouse Indiana. This run is even more incredible as it followed an early season fatal accident to teammate Danny Dahlquist who died in a house fire. Compounding the tragedy, three teammates missed the season after being charged with felony arson following the accident. Grant played a key role and helped lead an inspirational run of new heights for the Bradley program. Jeb Brovsky, a freshman at Notre Dame, also came within one game of the final four after his Fighting Irish fell in a closely contested match to now tournament favorite, Wake Forest. Brovsky who played considerable minutes all year as a freshman was unable to lead the Irish to victory within the 90 minutes of regulation soccer played. Wake Forest prevailed 1-0 in over time. Congratulations to both Grant and Jeb on great seasons!

ALOHA!! Rush Wins Three State Titles!
After having advanced five teams (out of nine) to the state cup finals, Rush will now send the 13 Nike Boys, 14 Nike Girls and the 18 Nike Girls to Hawaii in June to compete at the Region IV Tournament and represent Colorado as State Cup Champions. The U15 Nike Girls who also advanced to the finals lost a very close and hard fought match 1-0 falling just short of their intended goal, as did the U16 Nike Girls who conceded the game winner in the fourth minute of injury time in a 2-1 loss. Such a tough morning of results gave way to a beautiful afternoon full of celebrations. The first win of the day went to the U14 Nike Girls who decided to wait until overtime to record their second straight state championship with a 1-0 win over Real Colorado. The second title was secured a short time after with an injury time victory for the 13 Nike Boys over a very game Real team. It was a well fought match that was decided by one of the great goals in Colorado State Cup history. Oscar Montes took the ball from inside his own half continued to beat five players and capped it off with a deft move to get around the goalkeeper and calmly slot the ball home for the winner. Only seconds later the final whistle blew. The last game of the day saw the U18 match up that so many people in the state were talking about, Rush vs. Real. The Rush 18 Girls are one of the best teams in the country and proved it for the second year in a row (six out of the last seven years) with a convincing 3-1 victory. Congratulations to our winners and a very very special thank you to all of our Rush members who came out in a display of support and passion. As we try to lead the way in caliber and style of soccer played, we are excited and motivated by our members who represent club unity and passion! (Good job Skyler and Akio!!)
