Hawks Start Strong
The Hawks, a U8/U9 Boys Rush Pikes Peak Developmental Team coached by Chris Livingstone, opened their season on September 10, 2011 with an exciting victory over a powerhouse Corinthians team. The Hawks began preparing mid-August through demanding individual and team drills and the application of small-sided 3v3 and 4v4 games. For four weeks, the team trained hard in anticipation of their progression out of 4v4 Micro Soccer and into the 6v6 Bantam Division. Playing 6v6 with a goalie on a larger field for the first time during their season opener was a step up for the Hawks, and they met the challenge head on against a highly skilled opponent. The first half was a nail biter, with the tough Corinthians team matching-up well against the tenacious Hawks. Each team scored three hard-earned goals in the first half. To begin the second half, the Corinthians scored directly from the kickoff to go up a goal. This one goal deficit early in the second half sparked a Hawks comeback and drive towards victory. The Hawks quickly responded with three impressive goals and later added a fourth while shutting down the Corinthians’ talented offense. After 50 minutes of action-packed soccer, the Hawks were victorious 7 to 4. Leading scorers for the Hawks were Caleb Dodge with four goals, one assist and Christopher Livingstone with three goals, three assists. It was an incredible game to be a part of and a wonderful way to start off the Fall 2011 Developmental Soccer Season. The Hawks have a tremendous amount of talent, heart and drive which will make for more exciting and fun-filled games throughout the soccer season. We welcome you to come see our Hawks in action. You won’t be disappointed!
