U14 Nike Girls Finish Second at Desert Classic!

The U14 Nike girls took second at last weekend's Desert Classic in Phoenix, Arizona. They began the weekend with a 2-0 victory over CCV Stars on Friday night and then booked their spot in the semifinals with a 2-1 win over FC Barcelona AZ. The girls faced off against Premier 1 Broomfield Blast Red in Sunday morning's semifinal. Our girls took an early lead through a goal from Lexi Moore. Broomfield equalized early in the second half. As injury time wound down our girls kept pressing forward for a win and 2 minutes deep into stoppage time Brooke Buzzell tapped in a cross from Lexi Moore to send the girls to the championship game! In the final, the girls faced Premier 1 Westminster Samba. The girls played their hearts out despite a red card and a penalty kick given against them. They lost the final 2-0, but overall it was a great weekend. Well done girls, you have made us all here at Rush Pikes Peak very proud! Go Rush!
