Rush Select Wraps Up a Successful Weekend at PDT in Arizona

Passion and Purpose were on display by Rush Select at the President’s Day Tournament these past few days. Boys and Girls Select teams in the ‘04, ‘03, and ‘02 birth years traveled from around the country to the tournament in Phoenix, Arizona to compete.

This year Rush Select teams were able to once again make a statement about the club and represent the brand well.

The ’04 Boys White team took a 1st place finish and the ‘04 Boys Blue took home a 3rd place finish!

The ’04 Girls Blue team won 2nd place and the white took home a 3rd place finish!

The ’03 Boys White team took home a 1st place finish and the Blue team placed 3rd!

Both the ’03 Girls Blue and White teams dominated and took home championships!

Justin Miller, the Director of Rush Select, was very pleased with how the tournament played out:

PDT 2020 was an incredible experience. I am honored to be a part of a club like ours and surrounded by our Rush coaches. I'm so happy we were able to come away with 4 championships and have 3 of our other teams place. It was a special event and all of Rush Soccer can be proud of our coaches and players.”

CEO & President of Rush Soccer, Tim Schulz, came to watch and support the players and was around for the entire event.

This was also an important weekend for Select players to get exposure to college coaches at the national level. Josh Tyler, the College Advisory Program (CAP) Director, attended the tournament to help further educate players on their college recruiting opportunities.

This year for PDT I really wanted to ensure that our players got the most exposure to college coaches. The Rush Select players are some of the very best across Rush Nation and all of them have the talent to play at the next level. I saw more coaches watching our games than I have ever seen; it shows that a little extra work to email coaches in advance really pays off.”

Both Justin and Josh recalled the singing and chanting that the Rush players engaged in during the weekend. This is unique to Rush and makes the Rush an easy club to pick out among the many different clubs in attendance. It also enables Rush players to feel a sense of unity as they wear the Rush "R" and enjoy their time with one another on and off the field.

“The best part of the weekend” Josh recalls, “was the chanting. Rush players from all over the county were cheering and chanting for players they just met; it brought a whole new level of energy to the games.”

The Rush Family is extremely proud of all of the teams that played with Passion and Purpose this past weekend. Congratulations to the Championship teams and the teams that placed!

We are the Rush!
