Tryouts FAQ

Rush Pikes Peak Tryout: FAQ’s

What are team levels?
The Competitive Branch (U11-U19) is divided into 3 divisions. U11-U12 Boys and Girls fall into the Youth Division. U13-U15 falls into the Junior Division and U16-U19 teams fall into the Senior Division.

In all divisions, U11-U19 age groups, there is a first team (Rush / Academy), a second team (Nero), a third team (Azul), a fourth team (Cinza), and a fifth team (Weiss) in each age group when numbers allow. Whichever the case, players have made a decision to play competitive soccer and are placed based on their passion, needs, and ability.

What is the Tryout Format and how will my child be evaluated?
Players will be evaluated by the four pillars of a player: 1-Technical development, 2-Tactical development, 3-Psychological development, and 4-Physical development. Lastly, we are also looking for players that demonstrate the Rush Core Values.

We want to see if players are comfortable on the ball and can make good decisions on the field. We want players to play fearless, as the Rush Way is “Freedom without Fear!”

Rush Core Values are very important when identifying players for the club as we hold our player and members accountable of being faithful to these core values and living by them on and off the field. This is an added identifier of seeking not just players but future leaders of tomorrow.

How & When do goalies tryout?
GK’s will be evaluated along with their age group at tryouts. Like all players, existing PP Rush Goalkeepers are evaluated year-round.

If an offer is made how long do we have to decide?
We ask that players come to tryouts knowing what they intend to do, as this speeds up the process for everyone. We understand that this decision has a lot of stress and families need time to make a decision. Decisions need to be made within 24 hours as there are players waiting that will be offered the place if you do not want to accept it. Families will be given a team yearlong plan so there know what to expect for the year. Acceptance of a roster spot is confirmed ONLY when the commitment paperwork and commitment fee are received.

When will teams be formed, & when will “I” be contacted?
Following your last tryout day, you should expect to hear from a coach within 48 hours.

After Tryouts, what then?
All players will be contacted and notified what team they were placed on. Following this, teams will have a team meeting where parents will be able to meet the coach, and the coach will be able to provide a more detailed team outline for the year.
Some teams may decide to play in a summer tournament, but most teams will not start training until the beginning of August.

How often do teams train?

Rush Pikes Peak Soccer Club teams train two times per week:

●    Training One - Team training with team coach

●    Training Two - Team training with team coach

Additional training programs are incorporated into weekly training plan where a player can receive

3-4 sessions per week with other teams in the club if schedule and player’s ability allow so

Are practices mandatory?

In Rush Soccer, nothing is mandatory, but we believe that if players want to get better, they must strive attend all type of training scheduled by the team. Training sessions vary from 1 hr in length to 1.5 hrs. If a player misses a practice they need to make-up that practice by attending another team session.

Can my child play multiple sports and still play club soccer?
Yes, we encourage our athletes to participate in multiple sports of their choice. However we do hold our families accountable to team commitments and ask all families to further communicate any conflict that may happen during the regular season with their coach. Failure to hold to your team commitment may further jeopardize your team placement.
