On Thursday a cautiously confident team arrived in Steamboat Springs with the hope and intent of walking away with a tournament win to bring home to Colorado Springs ... and they succeeded in phenomenal fashion. The boys opened the tournament with a 6-1 win, creating a confidence across the board that was palpable. They then went on to roll through their next two games 4-0 and 7-1 looking like a well-oiled machine that had played together for a few seasons, setting themselves up for a showdown with another Rush team from Denver. Despite tough gameplay exhibited by our sister Rush team, our boys pulled out an extremely well-earned win, 3-1.
The results of this tournament were a direct result of two specific things: (1) A team of boys hungry to win and, more importantly, (2) a pair of coaches dedicated not only to ensuring the boys had a great time, but also coaching the team with the goal to win - Markus Goodrich and Mick Emmerson. As a parent, it was a pure joy to watch the boys' collective confidence soar to new heights as a result of their experience in this tournament. Congratulations to all the boys and the coaches to an exceptionally well done job!
